August 2022 – Still Got It!

I really let loose this time. I just sorta went off script. Loved the packed house but the laughter actually threw me off a little. Chino told me to order a Majita and I got a Mojito – a few sips in and I remembered “I don’t drink” So , nice try Mr. Bartender

Back in the Saddle Again

Things went well. We had Willie Simon headlining, I was the feature, Chino was the host and Chuck Thompson and Vince Foti were also in the mix. This place has the best coca cola, don't know how they do it, but check it out sometime. Super stoked to be able to do live shows.

Willie Simon Show at Da Playground Maui

Da Playground Maui

I did it! I went to meet my zoom friends in Philadelphia

Captains Log, June 5, 2021

Things are getting better. We don’t have to wear masks outside anymore. And the hokey pokey is now legal. I’ve been getting by on bingo gigs and sidewalk sales, but a buck is hard to come by. Luckily I”ve been keeping my worries at bay – by distracting myself: https://www.facebook.com/groups/MauiHipHopMovement/permalink/4141818259190666/

The screws are loosening! We can now have 10 people outside, and another mix of confusing new rules but the good news is things are getting better! And look at this:

Look Ma! No PlexiGlass!

Its a brave new world! We did it! The first hybrid comedy show. They set up a little comedy club in Canada with camera’s, then had live comics on stage plus zoom comics displayed on a screen. And we could hear the live audience. Amazing. What really blows my mind is they booked me sight unseen. Thanks for taking a chance- Silly Side Comedy Club; you’ll be seeing me again!

There is a gecko in my house. I asked what to do with it and got 157 comments. It turns out it is a native Hawaiian spirit animal and I can’t get rid of it. They live for 20 years and this one is a baby. I’d take a picture but I’m not exactly sure where he is right now, probably sleeping behind the curtains but I don’t want to check because he is sleeping. They are nocturnal; I found out the hard way. Cuz this guy parks himself about a foot from my head and lets out a croak that sounds mixture of donkey and chicken. He does this about 3 times a night.

Here is an example :

Current Situation:

These people down here are my open mic-ers from zoom. A lot of them are from Philadelphia and one of them is from Romania. They are a rowdy bunch, and we meet up every Monday at 3:00pm Hawaii time. Its called ill at ease.

Great Show Last night! Thanks for everyone coming out to the playground! 2/15/21

We will be doing bi-monthly shows at Da Playground Ma’alea

Man I just got done with a zoom mic. If you would have told me 6 months ago that I would be performing my next show on the internet I would have been floored.

It is better in some ways than real life. I can be there with people from New York and Texas and Australia. Also, I can leave the room. An option not typically available in real-life situations.

I’m also smoking alot of weed at the mics and so far have not gotten arrested. The only thing that sucks about it is the delay. I really thought I missed the boat and then as I was about to shut it down; whats this, laughter..? Alright I shall remain.

covid safe, plexi glass, precautions.,

Tomorrow is the big day. The first show of the season. I can’t wait. I always wanted to do comedy behind a shower curtain.

Looks like I am have to start writing some jokes. See ya tomorrow!

Captains Log July 11th 2020

Wow what a night! It was like being in a display case. I forgot what it was like to make real people laugh in real time. The best part of this is for space reasons the producer isn’t even in the building, so nobody really knows if I did any jokes or not. Still get the money. Brilliant.

We recently put on a free show for the neighborhood in my friend’s backyard. It was really nice small gathering with four comics and a bunch of beer. We love small shows like this. The crowd was really receptive and it was nice to get on stage again.

Another successful show at Vibes. Someone fell off a bar stool, but that just means it was that good! My old boss was there, but I let her off easy. The funny thing about doing socially distant shows is there’s only allowed 17 people in there, and that means everyone else stands outside. So the producer doesn’t really know if I do a good job or not. Heck, next time I could just go in, order a beer and play a laugh track.

Brian Evans
Honored to have singer/songwriter Brian Evans in attendance. He’s been a long time supporter of local comics here on Maui.

Its been a while! So far I have been reading the comments and a lot of them seem to be derogatory or written in code, but at least you are listening. Thank you my loyal fans. Lately I have only been doing Christmas parties and zoom shows, but stay tuned for bigger events. There is a comedy show on the 6th at a new place called Da Playground, hope to see you there.

The screws are tightening. No more than groups of 5 and venues can only have 30 percent capacity. Jokes on them; we Never had beyond 30% and I couldn’t get 5 people together if I tried. My only problem is they have me behind glass. And I can see my reflection and I keep flying into it. Other than that, hold on folks were gonna see the end of this someday. We are doing bi-weekly shows at Da Playground, the next one is Jan 18th 7pm
